Assistant Coach:

Dan Brown






                                                                                       



This is Coach Brown’s fifth year with the Cowboy Baseball program.  He teaches fifth grade in a technology-enriched classroom at Garfield Upper Elementary. Coach Brown is in his twenty-third year of teaching.  He is currently an assistant coach for the seventh grade football and basketball programs and has served as assistant high school wrestling coach in the past.  Previous to being in Abilene, Coach Brown taught in Miltonvale, Kansas. 


Head Coach: Andy Cook








Coach Cook is in his 12th year of teaching at Abilene High School.  His course load includes geometry, advanced math and calculus.  He is also the Chairsperson of the Mathematics department. Coach Cook was the assistant softball coach for three years and the assistant middle school boys basketball coach for eight years.  This is his ninth year in baseball and third as head coach.  In addition, he was  the head coach for one year with the Abilene Junior American Legion and for two years with the Abilene Senior Babe Ruth program.  Prior to coming to Abilene, he coached for one year at Osage City High School.

Coach Meneley is a first year coach who played baseball at Jefferson West High School.  He teaches special needs students at Kennedy Elementary.  His wife Meaghan teaches German at Abilene High School.  He has one daughter, Marin, and has another child due in early summer.


                   




                           

                                                       Coach Bartley is an AHS Cowboy success story.  He was one of the first people to put on the uniform and compete for the Cowboys.  He holds many career records in the pitching department.  This is his second year as a pitching coach for the Cowboys. From Abilene, Travis went to Fort Scott Community College to pitch and then finished his career at Emporia State as a middle reliever.  He is married to Kim Bartley and they are expecting their first child.

Senior Recognition Night


On Monday, May 12 before the first round of regionals with Council Grove, the AHS Baseball team will be recognizing the achievement of 7 teammates.  They have 6 senior players and 1 senior manager: Eric Bartley, Ted Budden, Nathaniel Causey, Vic Clark, Colten Kohman, Dustin Strunk, and Cali Humphreys.  Please join Coach Cook and the rest of the Cowboys in saluting these participants not only for the fine performance they have brought to the program, but also for the fantastic individuals they each have become.
