2008 spelling bee
Garfield Elementary held the annual school spelling bee on Thursday, January 10th. Two finalists from each class were selected to compete in the grade level competitions. Fourth grade contestants were Cinder Varelman, Travis Ringquist, Payton Schmidt, Buck Hayes, Josh Angst, Dynae Bebermeyer, Eric Harms, Brianna Womack, Garrett Davis and Gehrig Geissinger. The fourth grade champion speller is Gehrig Geissinger and the runner-up is Payton Schmidt. Travis Ringquist placed third.
Fifth grade contestants were Gracie Dautel,Jesseca Wirtz, Brenna Barrett, Samantha Brown, Samantha Mascareno, Cebastine Branstietter, Jessica Hagedorn, Marissa Schardein, Hunter Combes and Jenna Klein. The fifth grade champion speller is Samantha Brown and the runner-up is Samantha Mascareno. Brenna Barett placed third & Jessica Hagedorn was fourth.
Samantha B., Samatha M., Brenna & Jessica will represent Garfield in the county wide spelling bee this spring.
