Day 1 - Tuesday, June 21st:
9:00 a.m. - Depart Abilene High School
3:21 p.m. - Depart Kansas City - United Flight 7021
4:40 p.m. - Arrive in Chicago
5:50 p.m. - Depart Chicago - United Flight 906
Day 2 - Wednesday, June 22nd:
9:50 a.m. - Arrival in Munich
10:30 a.m. - Depart Munich - Lufthansa flight 830
11:40 a.m. - Arrive in Düsseldorf - Our hosts will meet us at the airport
and drive us to Kevelaer.
Day 3 - Thursday, June 23rd:
7:55 a.m. - Attend classes at Kardinal von Galen Gymnasium in Kevelaer
9:30 a.m. - Official greeting by the principal, Dr. Wilkomm (Dr. Welcome)
Free afternoon with host
Day 4 - Friday, June 24th:
7:50 a.m. - Depart Kevelaer by train with the group to visit Bonn
9:57 a.m. - Arrival in Bonn (former capital of Germany)
11-12 a.m. - Visit Beethoven's Birthplace
12-2:00 p.m. - Visit the University of Bonn
2:30-3:45 p.m. - Tour the "house of History" or Haus der Geschichte - a
great German History Museum...Mr. Roth would love it!
4:10 p.m. - Depart Bonn by ship to Köln (Cologne)
5:50 p.m. - Arrive in Köln for a visit of the cathedral (Dom) and downtown
7:43 p.m. - Depart Köln by train
9:09 p.m. - Arrive in Kevelaer
Day 5 - Saturday, June 25th:
9:45 a.m. - Ecumenical Graduation Service (Baccalaureate) at St. Antonius
Church
11:00 a.m. - Graduation (Abitur) service
8:00 p.m. - Abi-Ball (like Prom)
Day 6 - Sunday, June 26th:
Free day with host families
6-9:30 p.m. - Going Away Party
Day 7 - Monday, June 27th:
10:20 a.m. - Depart by train to Rothenburg - RE 10027
11:48 a.m. - Transfer in Düsseldorf - CE 725

The Pension (Bed/breakfast) is family run, very clean with a wonderful German
breakfast and traditional Bavarian featherbeds.
Day 8 - Tuesday, June 28th:
Sightseeing with Frau Meneley in Rothenburg. Free time to visit museum(s)
of your choice and/or the Christmas village and explore the town.
Dinner together outdoors in typical Bavarian style! Schnitzel und Spezi...lecker!!
Day 9 - Wednesday, June 29th:

3:52 p.m. - Arrive at Berlin Zoo - Meet ACIS tour group for dinner - did
not actually happen this way, we were held up and the trains were delayed,
so we did not arrive until later that night. We arrived for dinner just
in time.
Day 10 - Thursday, June 30th:
The year 2000 saw Berlin become the capital of Germany again, and sightseeing
shows you how the city and its people are reconciling the past with the
future. Visit the Brandenburg Gate, Check Point Charlie,
and a few carefully preserved remnants of the Berlin Wall. In the
afternoon visit Potsdam, the site of the Potsdam conference of
1945 and the Soviet military strong point during the Cold War.
Day 11 - Friday, July 1st:
Drive from Berlin, passing the cities of Nuremberg, where the War
Crimes trials were held, and Leipzig, where "Monday demonstrations"
started the peaceful revolution of 1989.
Day 12 - Tuesday, July 2nd:
Visit Munich, the capital of Bavaria. A local guide shows you Nymphenburg
Palace, the stadium built for the Olympic Games and Marienplatz..
In the afternoon, take an excursion to Dachau, site of the Nazi concentration
camp.
Day 13 - Wednesday, July 3rd:
Cross the Rhine and visit Stuttgart, home of the Mercedes Benz
and Porsche cars that represent Germany's economic rebuilding, and continue
to Strasbourg.
Day 14 - Thursday, July 4th:
Take an excursion to the Maginot Line, a reminder of a period when
differences were expressed in war, not parliamentary debate. Enjoy a free
afternoon.
Day 15 - Friday, July 5th:
Drive across the French countryside that saw some of the fiercest fighting
during World War I to Paris.
Day 16 - Saturday, July 6th:
A sightseeing tour introduces Notre Dame, the Champs Elysées,
and the Arc de Triomphe. In the afternoon visit the Louvre
and see the great art masterpieces that make up a part of the heritage of
France.
Day 17 - Sunday, July 7th:
Departure for the USA
