Im already thinking of ways to modify for 4th grade to incorporate with curriculum and as enrichment. Showboy center was great! Ill use these ideas within classroom also. Im impressed with middle school lesson plans. Great incorporation of vocab as well as using organizing (K.W.L.). Great job, all of you! Projects keep students continually on task. Cool Great ideas to engage students in learning during each class period. Very age appropriate. Awesome biography project (I want to take your class!!) Such a great way to teach the artists and their techniques. I wish AHS still had an annual Open House to publicly display this work Such a creative plethora of centers!& I love that kids would have so many different art forms to experience. Again - I want to get to do this! Very interesting. Enjoyed learning about what is used on each grade level. High School Art Toni set a goal of teaching vocabulary words during her teaching. A second goal was to teach about artists. Each student made books with a page about an artist and then did a painting like that artist did. A very informative presentation. Grade School She made art center for students who finish projects early. She was planning to use these at McKinley because 2nd and 3rd graders are usually the students finish early. She showed the centers she has made so far in shoe boxes. She is developing a check-out list and rules to use the boxes. Each box has directions written out and examples with supplies to make the project. Centers are such a great idea for our McKinley students, Good idea, Alisha! 6-8 Art Power point presentation - School Enhancement Art History - study art history by analyzing artists and art styles. Vocabulary is incorporated with each artist and style - 10 new words each nine weeks. KWL chart is used Research flowers before painting one. Quizes are given with vocabulary words. Each student does a critique of a project before and after the project is started and then finished. This was a very informative presentation. High School Used packet full of vocab and bio of different painters. K-5 What a great idea!! Kids spend more time painting instead of thinking about what to do. Also, they get some background on each artist. What a great idea - that will keep the kids busy and happy, while still letting them explore creatively. Awesome!! The kids will love it!! Middle School Students gain exposure to the life and bio of the painter though research as they work on their projects - that is a great way to give them MORE knowledge. Assessing the students over vocab from each lesson; of course makes sense. I never thoguth about giving written tests in Art class! Well done - making sure that they are learning at a deeper level. High School - Toni Britt Vocabulary - reinforce, one set per nine weeks. Booklet of material. Elementary Art centers - when students finish the project early various different centers. Large embroidery needles in sewing center Middle School Art history reading assignment KWL, research flowers Vocabulary graphic organizers, puzzles related some to math concepts Critique describe, analyze, interpret, and judge artwork critique form Great Ideas! Counselors Committee Members: Sandi Dutt Gene Hartman Rex Cearley Bill Desbien Comments: I think the 6 Pathways are very good for students to focus on. I especially like how the pathways give ideas for what kind of job students may have based on their education level. Very good sounds like a really great idea and project. High School Planner is easy to follow and well put together. Rex, the bullying issue is very relevant today. I am glad this is one of the goals that is being addressed. Very interesting. - You have a way of explaining things well. Good Job! Lot;s of good information! Attractive and informative brochure (orange & tan). Love and appreciate the interpersonnal skills that are being addressed. Bullying program - bravo! Interesting presentations. Glad you go one-on-one into the classroom and observe. Interesting websites - do the parents have access to this? I thought the school comparisons would be a helpful tool. Pathways - good to know were on track with what the state is doing. c K- 8 Library Committee Members: Annette Wilson Ruth Ann Graefe Comments: This was very usefull information. I know how to look up videos and DVDs that are available all over the district. I can borrow now! Thanks - Good Job! Atrium - New system used for library resource and cataloging books. Internet based system which can be used by all schools in district. Very interesting applications the program has to offer. The ease of which to use seems very friendly for all ages. The program is age appropriate for each building which is nice. Very informative - It was nice to know about each school and what they have for children. Great presentation! I had no idea so much information was available online about what was in our libraries! Thanks for all you do! Good job on presentation. Interesting on Media Center program. Very informative and concise. The hands on use of computers were very beneficial. Good job! Its a great program! Thanks for sharing. Was able to use laptops to understand what they were showing. A great tool for students to easily find books by any level, any grade - good! Great features. Great way to get students to library! Good presentation!! Excellent job! Im inspired to go back and use the skills I learned to help kids locate books! Thanks! U K- 8 Physical Education Committee Members: Bill Christner Troy Emig Michael Willey Comments: Very informative Family Fun night -awesome idea I appreciate the emphasis on lifetime fitness. Focus: Activity outside the classroom. Progressed from organized recess. Family Fit Night - Kansas Health Foundation. Drawings for prizes for those kids attending family event. DONT TAKE AWAY RECESS. Walking track - beginning spring walking no running during morning before school. Running is allowed during recess time. Before school 80% of kids using the track. K- 5 Special Education Committee Members: Dawn Darling Michelle Johnson Lori Flippp Corina Ryland Stephanie Becker Dallas Meneley Comments: We appreciate all you do! I agree that transitions between schools is important. You are doing what you should to help students find success in each school. You definitely make a difference and I admire your patience! Thanks! SPED teachers certainly have their plates full. Hats off to you all. Very informative I dont know how you keep track of it all. Nice job! Amazing job! Special needs students offer many challenges and it looks like the K-5 team has developed an effective plan to help transition the students, attain success on assessments and ensure no one child fails. Keep up the wonderful work and god bless ya. Loved the multi-media presentation! Learning Buddies between Schools - great idea. First, I commens you on the patience while working with these youngsters. The Buddy System seems to be a great idea. Giving the kids an opportunity to see what is ahead may ease the transition of buildings and learning strategies. Kennedy Elementary - Determines the students needs for future needs as the progress. Stephanie & Dallas is working on developing a good assessment test at Kindergarden. McKinley Elementary - Lori & Corina Briefed on how the Spec. Ed department help students meet the standards. Lori whos working the most serious students develope note books for each student to track their progress. Students visit Garfield to see their future school. Garfield - Michelle & Dawn Spoke about alternate assessment, workshops and transition to the middle school. Transition is one of the biggest benefit for the students. Nice video in the beginning. Dallas & Steph Information on transition was helpful I like the shared project with McKinley A checklist will give you a good baseline for the future. Preparing those kids for testing down the road must be a real challenger. Lori & Corina A appreci*ated the hand out and looking at notebooks. Michelle & Dawn Alternate assessments is that how SPED kids take the state test? Only the significant delayed. It was interesting to see the breakdown. K-5 I love the hands one! The average teachers, probably doesnt think much about transitions. ZNDSET2H/ 6*DSETN2Hv/ 6*DSUMHDNISTYL JSTYL//////// / ^ HASH $. .. .)
