Reading to Young Children

Reading to your child is important for many reasons.  It gives you time together, it tells your child reading is very important, and it also lets you share your knowledge and ideas with your child.


Early Years -- Activities for reading and writing fun from birth to preschool.  From tips to teaching “The Alphabet Song” to ideas for making stories come alive, this is full of useful ideas.


Zero to Three -- Provides information about early literacy, answers and questions (such as, Why do babies like to chew on books?) and provides resources.


Children’s Storybooks -- Find books and illustrated or animated stories such as “The Farm Animals” and “The Three Big Pigs”.  You can read the stories or listen to the sound features included.
